Former Rangers and Liverpool midfielder Charlie Adam have officially retired from playing football. He hung his boots while playing for Dundee this summer having spent two campaigns with the club to achieve promotion to the Scottish Premiership, with online pokies backing his games.
The 36-year-old midfielder managed to make over 80 appearances for Rangers before moving to Blackpool. He was made a skipper for the Seasiders and help them achieve promotion to the Premier League before moving to Liverpool in 2011.
He also played for Stoke City and Reading before going back to Scotland to join Dundee in 2020. During the pre-season, the 36-year-old was spotted helping West Ham United manager David Moyes at St Andrew’s during a training session. He was also seen recently with Burnley’s under-23, another effort he took to get his coaching en route.
Charlie Adam announced his retirement through social media along with a video with some of his career highlights, which included the day he signed with the Rangers as a teenager, and many users of casino en lignes watched.
“I feel now is the time to announce my retirement as a player.
“I’ve been lucky enough to play for some of the biggest clubs in the world, from Champions League nights at Ibrox for Rangers, winning promotion into the Premier League as Blackpool captain, pulling on the famous Liverpool shirt and scoring in front of the Kop, eight incredible seasons at Stoke City to guiding my boyhood club to promotion and playing 25 times for Scotland – it’s not been a bad ride.
“A huge thank you goes to Glasgow Rangers, Ross County, St Mirren, Blackpool, Liverpool, Stoke City, Reading and Dundee’s supporters – hopefully, I’ve given you all some memorable moments along the way.
“For now, it’s time for me to move into coaching, something I feel incredibly passionate about and have been enjoying for the last few months.
“I’d like to thank my parents, my sister and brothers, my wife Sophie, children Jack, Anabella and Louis and all my family and friends for their support over the last 20 years – couldn’t have done any of it without you.
“It’s been a pleasure.”
Charlie Adam’s retirement means that he will be missing out on the 2022 FIFA World Cup, and Scotland failed to qualify for the tournament which will be held in Qatar this November. Before retiring, he still managed to register 26 apps for Scotland national team, and his last appearance for the team happened in 2015. We will be looking forward to Charlie Adam’s new career as a young manager.
